What is your favorite part of FIRST robotics?
"Watching the students brain storm and working through the process of figuring out how to play the game, and listening to the mountains of knowledge that they have. It is really quite impressive."

What is your favorite part of FIRST robotics?
" I like the amazing sense of accomplishment (almost astonishment) that students experience when they deliver a huge project on time. Of course this happens each year when we ship a working robot on time!! But it happens more often that that too, when projects along the way get finished, like all the CAD drawings, or the electrical board, or a manipulator, or the line following software program. All these are examples of big projects that young people don't know they can do, and yet they get it done with hard work and commitment. It changes someone's outlook when they realize they can deliver big things. It makes a big difference in what they believe about themselves. That's what I like the most. "

What is your favorite part of FIRST robotics?
" Programming the robot's brain. Figuring out how to read line sensors, camera pictures and wheel position to make the robot move servos, pistons and motors to DO stuff. "

What is your favorite part of FIRST robotics?
" It's fun to see the students take ownership of their part in the organization. It takes a lot of different personalitites with different skill sets to pull this off, and it's really cool to see students find a role that fits them and take off with it. Also, I really enjoy their enthusiams at the competitions. I wish I had that much energy. "

What is your favorite part of FIRST robotics?
"It's amazing to hear a the kids explain the complex calculations that were used to develop the PLC program or discuss the robot's mechanical design and motor torque requirements. The experience they are gaining in this program is incredible. I'm happy to be a part of that."

What is your favorite part of FIRST robotics?
" Seeing how highschoolers pull off engineering feats that even mature professionals would find challenging, and knowing the skills, interests and confidence they gain here will give them opportunities that could reshape their future "

What is your favorite part of FIRST robotics?
" What I like about Robotics: The best thing for me is watching the students learn new and interesting ways in building different parts of the robot, and making it function. Assisting in helping with the build process and using the different tools that are available in the shop. It is also exciting, especially toward the end, to see the Robot come alive. As the date gets closer, I often start to wonder if we are going to make it, but the students seem to pull things together quite well. When it comes to crunch time, all the students seem to just work together as a true TEAM. I enjoy getting to know the students better and learn more about their talents the further along we get. It has always been a pleasure to work along side this group of young adults. "

What is your favorite part of FIRST robotics?
" I enjoy helping the students do things they expected to be difficult, or even impossible. Teenagers learn to think creatively, solve problems, and get input from others. FIRST gives them opportunities to learn real world skills and I"ve seen numerous kids go onto more challenging math and science classes, even college courses, with knowledge gained from participating in FIRST Robotics."
Rick Sorensen
What is your favorite part of FIRST robotics?
" My favorite part about robotics is: watching kids discover their strengths in contributing to part of a complex project and how they respectfully interact with adult mentors to gain insight to those areas that they are being challenged in. Next to that: The Competition!!!!!!!! "
