Of course this happens each year when we ship a working robot on time!! But it happens more often that that too, when projects along the way get finished, like all the CAD drawings, or the electrical board, or a manipulator, or the line following software program. All these are examples of big projects that young people don't know they can do, and yet they get it done with hard work and commitment. It changes someone's outlook when they realize they can deliver big things. It makes a big difference in what they believe about themselves. That's what I like the most. "

" What I like about Robotics: The best thing for me is watching the students learn new and interesting ways in building different parts of the robot, and making it function. Assisting in helping with the build process and using the different tools that are available in the shop. It is also exciting, especially toward the end, to see the Robot come alive. As the date gets closer, I often start to wonder if we are going to make it, but the students seem to pull things together quite well. When it comes to crunch time, all the students seem to just work together as a true TEAM. I enjoy getting to know the students better and learn more about their talents the further along we get. It has always been a pleasure to work along side this group of young adults. "

FIRST gives them opportunities to learn real world skills and I"ve seen numerous kids go onto more challenging math and science classes, even college courses, with knowledge gained from participating in FIRST Robotics."
